Michel Fertin is a discreetly kept legend within France’s high fidelity community. In 2001, he decides he has earned a richly deserved retirement. But someone doesn’t seem to be of the same mind with his decision…
She is an ardent fan of live music. She is known for enthusiastically applauding a Manouche jazz trio, for devoutly listening to a string quintet perform Schubert, and for party-hardying into the wee hours following a concert given by Francis Cabrel – all within the course of a single day!
This is perhaps the true reason why Catherine Fertin wasn’t satisfied with simply listening to her favourite artists at home on a standard hi-fi system. She went to seek out her father, who was enjoying a peaceful retirement, to convince him to dream up speakers only he was capable of creating.
And what do you think was the outcome ?
This wealth of qualities, combined with an unfailing reliability of each and every one of the duo’s creations, recently resulted in JADIS choosing the LB7 for its new line of enclosures. As for Michel or Catherine, neither intends to stop here and both are currently busy putting the finishing touches to several high-end designs.
Father and daughter rediscovered their initial enthusiasm. One’s nimble fingers and discerning eye complemented the other’s ever-effervescent brain. The pleasure of making musical objects helped foster the desire to invent many more…
Given Catherine’s perfectionism and energy, their new creations surpassed by far the limits and high performance already attained by full-range loudspeakers.
Certain basic discoveries would bring on decisive improvements.
The result is the creation of a series of loudspeakers with astonishing performances. The 7-inch LB7 is able to reproduce a frequency response from 45 to 18,000 Hz, free of any distortion whatsoever.
When a dream becomes reality, it may seem like a fairy tale. Sometimes, however, the tale can take on a magnitude that defies all predictions.
Today we can honestly say that Catherine Fertin passionately carries the torch of a long-lasting love story with music, as well as the means to reproduce it.
In 2007, the duo gets to work on creating
